What is the King of the Mountain All-Mountain Enduro Race?  It is an event that is open to racers of all ability levels which will incorporate various aspects of Mountain Biking including: downhill, cross-country and trail riding.  Enduro racing combines the best elements of racing and group riding by allowing participants to experience the thrills and challenges of racing while still enjoying the social aspects of riding with their friends.

Once again we have linked our race with the Burke Mountain Bike Park Kingdom Enduro and Highland Mountain Over-Mountain Enduro to create the East Coast Enduro Triple Crown.  Pro and Amateur racers who take part in all three races will compete for the overall series title and cash and prizes provided by SR Suntour, G-Form, Specialized, Dakine, Oakley, 661, Fly Racing and GoPro

Date:  Sunday October 4, 2015 (Pre-Ride & Practice Saturday October 3rd)

Format: The King of the Mountain Enduro race will be comprised of 5 timed “special” stages and non timed “transport” stages.  The “specials” will  consist primarily of downhill and technical sections but riders should expect to climb up to 10-20% of the total distance of each stage.  The “transport” stages between each "special" will move riders from one area of the mountain to the other and may include some significant climbs.

The riders with the fastest cumulative time at the completion of the race will be crowned the winner.

Amateur Enduro Event:
Novice riders and those new to racing may choose to participate in the Amateur Enduro Event.  This novice event will consist of 4 stages on our intermediate and advanced terrain.  Open to amateurs only.

King of the Mountain Enduro:
This race is geared toward more advanced riders or those who want to accept the  challenge of competing for the overall King of the Mountain title.  This race will build upon the Lite Enduro stages adding an additional 5th stage which utilize the some of the most difficult, expert, steep, rocky terrain that the mountain has to offer.

Race Rules:
All Riders must complete the entire race on the same bike.  Riders must choose their weapon carefully… You’ll want a bike that climbs efficiently and will still hold up to the pounding of our downhill terrain.  Our recommendation is a full-suspension trail bike with at least 5” of travel or the equivalent (29’er).  Full-face helmets and protective equipment are reccomended for the King of the Mountain participants.  Whatever gear you'll want for the timed segments you need to carry with you on the transfer segments.  You must be 100% self-sufficient on the trail.  Use of the lift is only permitted during practice or when/if included in a transfer stage.  Re-runs will only be given at the discretion of the race director and official.  No Whinning!  The race officials rulings are the final word.

Courses:
Part of the fun of Enduro races is getting to ride terrain that is traditionally not open or suitable to racing.  The King of the Mountain race will utilize the various terrain elements that the Mountain Creek Bike Park and the surrounding resort has to offer.

We have partnered once again with Giant/Shimano athlete Jeff Lenosky to assist us in the course design and layout for our race and we promise that it will be a fun and challenging event in the true spirit of the Enduro style format.

To ensure that there are no unfair advantages given to local racers, 2015 course maps and descriptions will not be released until the Thursday prior to each race.  Last year's course maps and profiles can be found on Strava for those looking to get a feel for what each race will offer.
